When I first arrived in the U.S. for graduate school, I mistakenly believed I had to speak like a native speaker, with a flawless accent. If I couldn’t? I stayed silent. But after living here for over 15 years, I’ve realized that what you say and how you say it matter far more than having a perfect accent. Depth of thought and clarity will always be valued—accent or not. A native-sounding accent? That’s just a bonus.

Even though AI tools make writing easier, real conversations still require clarity, quick thinking, and depth. You can’t just pause mid-discussion and say, “Hold on, let me ask ChatGPT for the perfect response!” You need to understand and engage in the moment. That means broadening your knowledge so you can follow different topics and pick up ideas quickly.

Learning English is a lifelong journey, and engaging conversations are the fastest way to gain insight and build connections. But I struggled to find learning materials that truly fit my needs—so I created my own learning materials:

• A Quote A Day – I used to try memorizing full articles daily, but let’s be real—I gave up fast. Instead, I found that learning one quote a day gives me just enough depth to enrich my conversations.

• Listen & Learn – I dive into interesting and latest topics in forms of podcasts, expand on them, and explore ideas that help me grow, think, and connect with others.

This space is where I document and share my English learning journey—quotes, podcasts, and anything that helps me think deeper and express myself better. Hope these resources help you too! ✨ Let’s keep improving together! ✨

在美國社會，溝通就是一切！

當初我剛來美國讀研究所時，曾經誤以為必須擁有像母語者一樣的完美口音，否則就乾脆不開口。但在美國生活後，我才漸漸明白——比起完美的口音，表達的內容與方式更為重要。只要言之有物、清晰表達，就會受到重視。擁有一口標準發音，只是錦上添花罷了。

雖然 AI 工具 已經大大減輕了非母語者在書面溝通上的負擔，但現實對話仍然需要清晰表達、快速反應和深度思考。你不可能在對話中突然停頓，然後說：「等等，讓我問問 ChatGPT 該怎麼回覆！」你需要在當下理解並即時參與討論。而這意味著你必須拓展知識面，才能跟上不同話題，迅速吸收新觀點。

學習英語是一場終生旅程，而深入的對話是最快速獲取見解並建立連結的方式。但我發現網路上的學習資源總是不夠貼合我的需求，於是，我決定開始打造自己的學習材料。

1️⃣ 每日一句 – 我曾經試圖每天背誦整篇文章，但這種方式讓我很快就放棄了。後來我發現，每天記住一句有意義的名言，反而能幫助我在對話中更有深度。

3️⃣ 邊聽邊學 – 我探索有趣且最新的話題在英文播客裡，深入討論並延伸思考，讓我在學習的同時，也能啟發新的觀點。
