What started as a simple alert tool for Cachuma Lake yurts and cabins has now grown into something bigger! I’ve expanded the alert system to cover high-demand campgrounds within about a 2-hour drive from San Luis Obispo, CA—so you don’t have to constantly check availability yourself.

Here’s the current list of covered campgrounds from south to north:

• Cachuma Lake (Yurts & Cabins)

• Refugio State Beach

• Pismo State Beach

• Montaña de Oro SP (primitive & environmental camping)

• Morro Strand State Beach

• Morro Bay State Park

• Hearst San Simeon State Park

• Plaskett Creek Campground

• Kirk Creek Campground

• Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

 

I focus on popular, reservable, and beginner-friendly sites—no group-only or primitive tent camping included. Montaña de Oro SP is an exception to keep due to its beauty, although it only has primitive sites. Pinnacles NP and Gaviota SP are excluded due to extreme summer heat or high winds.

This tool runs once every weekday starting April 1, scanning these campgrounds for weekend openings (Friday and/or Saturday) up to 3 months in advance - but no later than September 30, since it's generally easier to find availability during the colder months. If something becomes available, you’ll get a free email alert similar to the example below—so you can book before anyone else!
